Julie Abrams is a Special Educator with over thirty years of teaching experience at all age and ability levels. She was born and raised in a college town in Upstate New York. Since the time she was a very young child she was drawn to people who needed extra support and compassion. In high school she moved with her family to southern California where she went on to received her BA and MA in Education/Special Education from San Diego State University. Julie Abrams began teaching in and directing infant/toddler and preschool programs. Following a move to rural Texas she taught in a public school district with 48 students. In the course of a day, she would teach all subjects, K-8th grade, to all students at all levels. When she returned to California, she began teaching regular education. What she found was a strong desire to work with children who benefited from individual instruction. For the past 16 years, Mrs. Abrams has taught in the area of Special Education. Her students range from children with such severe needs that they required one on one nursing care throughout the school day, to students with such mild academic needs that they were able to be fully integrated into the regular education program. She has dedicated her life to the education and care of children and their families.
